He’s been overseeing a collection of broadcast TV stations under the Victoria Television Group banner for Morgan Murphy Media since July 2020 and previously led TV stations in San Angelo and in Abilene. Now, this 35-year industry veteran is readying for retirement.
This will put the wheels in motion on the need for a successor to Danny Aguilar, VP/General Manager of a collection of stations comprised of ABC KAVU-25, NBC KMOL-17, CBS KXTS-41, FOX KVCT-19, Univision KUNU-21, and Telemundo KVTX-45 in Victoria, Tex.
Aguilar’s retirement is time for early September, to which he says, “I have truly enjoyed my time at Victoria Television Group and feel honored to have worked at Morgan Murphy Media. Broadcasting has been my passion for 35 years, and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together. While I’m excited about this next chapter in my life, I will always cherish the relationships I’ve built and the opportunity to be part of this community’s story. After all these years, I think it’s time to retire so I can travel and enjoy all my grandchildren.”
Prior to taking over the Victoria stations, Aguilar served as President and General Manager of KIDY-TV in San Angelo and KXVA-TV in Abilene, holding that role from 2018 to 2020. He was also Station Manager for KIII-3, the TEGNA-owned station in Corpus Christi, Tex., holding that position for 8 years.
“Danny has been a valued colleague throughout his tenure with Victoria Television Group,” said Brian Burns, President and CEO of Morgan Murphy Media. “His dedication to excellence in broadcasting and his commitment to serving our local community have been exemplary. We are grateful for his many contributions and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”
He added that the Victoria Television Group will announce succession plans shortly to ensure a smooth transition of leadership responsibilities. Morgan Murphy Media acquired the Victoria, Tex., stations in September 2017 from Saga Communications.
