A Gospel AM Trades Hands In North Carolina

A Class D AM with 1kw during daylight hours and 80 watts at night has been serving the Roanoke Chowan area of North Carolina with “the best in Inspirational Music and Community focus” since 1948.

Now, its owner and operator has decided to sell the station. What does this mean for “Da Throwback Joy?”

If anything, it only demonstrates the commitment to keeping WRCS-AM 970 in Ashokie, N.C., running as-is, with KBaldwin Media Group acquiring the facility from WRCS-970 Radio Inc.

KBaldwin has been operating WRCS, and now it is assuming the studio lease of the seller while purchasing the station for $100,000.

At closing, $10,000 in cash will be delivered to the seller. Then, the remainder of the funds due will be represented by a Promissory Note, to be honored by WRCS seller James Watford.

KBaldwin is led by Keith Baldwin. And, he’s agreed to a 75-month payment plan with a base of $1,200 per month. Should an additional $300 per month be paid, the seller will knock $100 off of the purchase price.

WRCS serves a small portion of Northeast North Carolina, near Murfreesboro.
