Cox Media Group‘s Tulsa cluster of radio and TV stations has “strengthened its local integrated broadcast team” with the addition of two multimedia professionals.
One will be focused on the news at the FOX affiliate it owns. The other is taking a key programming leadership post for “Mix 96.5.”
Rudy Murrieta, a 20-year television veteran, has stepped into the role of Managing Editor for KOKI-TV, “FOX23.”
Murrieta will oversee the newsroom and steps in after a short stint as a Panel Relations rep for Nielsen. He took the role in January after 4 years as Asst. News Director for Meredith Local Media’s WGCL-46 in Atlanta. Prior to that, he was a producer at such stations as KUSI-51 in San Diego, KPNX-12 in Phoenix, WESH-2 in Orlando and WINK-11 in Fort Myers, Fla.
Also being welcomed to CMG/Tulsa is Abby Jessen.
Jessen’s new title is as Director of Branding and Programming for Hot Adult Contemporary KRAV-FM “Mix 96.5” in Tulsa. She most recently held a similar role for CMG in Athens, Ga.
“At CMG, we’ve always said that we win with our people, and it’s led to the creation and longevity of our market-leading products,” says Cathy Gunther, Market Vice President. “Bringing Rudy and Abby on to our team will continue to give us an advantage over our competitors and help us further elevate our award-winning content. We are thrilled to have them on our team.”
