With the start of the 2022 National Football League season, the team formerly known as the Redskins inked an English-language flagship broadcast deal with iHeartMedia’s stations serving the National Capital Region.
The team and the local management leading the stations owned by America’s largest radio broadcasting company have just agreed to a contract extension.
As such, the Washington Commanders are sticking with Classic Rock WBIG-FM “BIG 100.3” as their flagship station for game-day broadcasts. “We are thrilled to extend our dynamic audio partnership with the Washington Commanders, building on the momentum and shared success we’ve achieved together the past 3 seasons,” said Aaron Hyland, who serves as Region President iHeartMedia D.C.
The partnership also includes a continued focus on Washington Commanders programming across iHeartMedia’s Washington stations. Additionally, the Commanders and iHeartMedia D.C. will continue collaborating on in-market experiences, including Commanders Draft Parties and Training Camp, as well as WIHT “HOT 99.5″‘s iteration of the Jingle Ball, WMZQ Fest, DC101-derland, and WASH-For-Kids Radiothon.
“Extending our partnership with iHeartMedia D.C. is an exciting step toward the future we’re building for Commanders fans,” said Jim Rushton, Chief Partnerships Officer for the Washington Commanders. “Together, we’re not only delivering dynamic gameday coverage — we’re laying the groundwork for even more innovative programming that will deepen our connection to the community and expand our engagement with our valued fans.”
