Cogeco: Overcoming ‘Turbulent’ Radio Advertising Once Again

It is the parent of one of Québec’s largest radio broadcasters, with 21 stations including English-language giant “The Beat 92.5” and Francophone Top 40 stalwart CKOI-FM 96.9 in Montréal. It is also the company that operates the Breezeline MVPD formerly known as Atlantic Broadband in the U.S.

On Monday, Cogeco Communications unveiled its fiscal Q2 2026 earnings report. What did the company have to share?

“Clear improvements” for Breezeline and its U.S. business are on track for the second half of 2026, confirming the company’s concerns that the fiscal first half of 2026 would be challenging.

In Canada, the performance “remains resilient,” said Cogeco President/CEO Frédéric Perron. And, while Radio core advertising is a sore spot, digital advertising solutions dollars are growing.

The problem for investors? The growth can’t come fast enough, as consolidated revenue in fiscal Q2 slipped to $713.04 million CDN from $753.25 million CDN. Adjusted EBITDA declined to $337.06 million CDN, from $356.91 million CDN.

Adjusted profit attributable to the owners of the corporation was essentially flat, at $20.46 million, while Free Cash Flow grew to $166.9 million, from $128.38 million.

With Radio revenue a continued concern and Breezeline revenue on track for improvement, Cogeco nevertheless offered updated guidance that now projects a softer 2026 than predicted in October 2025.
