A Fresno-based owner of low-power television stations who has emerged as a pioneer in the use of multiple digital multicast signals has agreed to sell a digital Class A facility serving a portion of California’s Central Valley.

The buyer is another individual well-known for his LPTV station ownership.

An asset purchase agreement signed on Tuesday (1/20) and submitted to the FCC for its regulatory approval shows Cocola Broadcasting Companies, led by Gary Cocola, agreeing to sell its KKDJ-CD in Visalia, Calif., to Central Valley Television LLC.

That’s an entity led by Paul Koplin, and 80% held by Loop Media.

With Joan Stewart of Wiley Law serving as Koplin’s legal counsel, and Mark Denbo of Smithwick & Belendiuk acting as Cocola’s attorney in front of the FCC, the filing indicates that a $275,000 purchase price was agreed to by the parties.

A $13,750 deposit has been made by Koplin to Cocola.

There is no broker or finder associated with this transaction, which involves a station that signed on in August 2018 as a “music television” offering aligned with KKDJ Radio, a rebirth of a heritage Top 40 station serving Fresno from 1979 through 1996, after the switch of a Los Angeles radio station to KIIS-FM.
