Bayshore Media already has an AM station in the resort town of Ocean City MD, the eastern outpost of the Salisbury-Ocean City market. Now it is extending its reach inland to get an FM companion. However, neither of the two stations puts a good signal into Salisbury.
The station being bought is WAMS-FM Snow Hill MD. It’s a Class A on 101.1 MHz with 1.2 kW @ 489’ that is currently using a Hits of the 80s format.
The seller is Snow Hill Broadcasting, headed by John P. “Jack” Gillen.
The buyer is headed by Vincent Klepac.
The price will be $350K, with $200K paid in cash and the rest coming over time pursuant to terms of a promissory note. An LMA was scheduled to begin 2/15/12.
The buyers already own Talk 1590 WQMR-AM Ocean City. It’s 1 kW-D, 230 W-N directional signal is pretty much confined to that municipality and the nearby Atlantic Ocean.
WAMS-FM is located in between and to the south of Salisbury and Ocean City, and doesn’t quite make it to either.
The sellers also own WJRE-AM Dover, which is not part of the market, and which is being sold.
