DAYTON, OHIO — The individual who serves as VP/General Manager of Cox Media Group‘s Miami Valley radio and television stations has been appointed SVP and Chief Sales Officer of the Apollo Global Management-controlled company’s TV properties.
He’ll be tasked with overseeing the strategy, oversight, performance, execution and alignment of core, political, and digital TV revenue operations across the Atlanta-headquartered company founded in Dayton.
Earning the bigger role at CMG is Darren Moore, who presently leads CBS affiliate WHIO-7 and sibling radio properties WHIO-AM & FM, WHKO “K99.1” and WZLR “The Eagle.”
“Darren is the clear choice to be the leader of sales for CMG TV,” said Dan York, CMG’s President/CEO. “He has a deep knowledge of CMG and the industry, he cares about clients and helping them grow their businesses, and he has an innovative and creative approach to generating revenue that will help our sales teams thrive.”
Under Moore’s leadership, WHIO-7 has been one of the nation’s best-performing CBS affiliates, commanding a significant audience share against stations owned by Sinclair Inc. and Nexstar Media Group, respectively. He took on his most recent role in 2022, rising from Director of Sales at Cox-owned WPXI-11 in Pittsburgh, a station he joined in 1996 as an intern. His father was a CMG employee.
