New Era. New Mindset. And now, a new way to watch the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, thanks to a fresh deal between the pro basketball franchise and Cox Media Group.
WSOC-9 and unaffiliated sibling WAXN-64 are partnering with FanDuel Sports Southeast by simulcasting five Hornets games during the current season.
The arrangement brings the Hornets to broadcast TV for the first time in 17 seasons.
The five over-the-air games will be split between WSOC-9 (two games) and WAXN-64 (three games):
“We’re thrilled to partner with WSOC-TV and TV 64 to make our FanDuel Sports Southeast broadcasts available for free and over-the-air for the first time since the 2007-08 season,” said Hornets President of Business Operations Shelly Cayette-Weston. “We are dedicated to enhancing the fan experience, strengthening the connection with our passionate fanbase and expanding the reach of our broadcasts. This is a great opportunity to bring our games to a wider audience and increase the exposure of our games.”
Cox Media Group Charlotte VP/GM Cedric Thomas added, “This partnership brings together two iconic brands that have community at their core. We’re proud to make these entertaining games accessible to everyone we reach in the Carolinas.”
The Hornets will announce additional over-the-air broadcast stations and distribution for these five games, produced by FanDuel Sports Southeast, across the team’s territory.
