Townsquare Shareholders Say Yes To Trio Of Proposals

On Wednesday, "local first" digital solutions and broadcast media company Townsquare Media held its 2023 annual shareholder meeting. Three proposals were voted on at the meeting, and the results, to little surprise, were overwhelmingly in favor of what the company's executive team led by CEO Bill Wilson recommended.

Urban One on April 7 shared that, in connection with the preparation of its financial statements for 2022, company management, in consultation with its independent registered public accounting firm, re-evaluated is accounting for the valuation of its investment interest in MGM National Harbor. After further review, an adjustment to Urban One financial statements as of January 1, 2021 are needed.

‘Difficult Economic Headwinds’ Impact Audacy in Q1

In Q1, the company formerly known as Entercom reported mixed results: the audio content creation and distribution company's revenue surpassed analysts' forecasts, but its earnings per share loss was wider than what they predicted by 2 cents. That led one analyst to ask the CEO and CFO of Audacy some tough questions on its quarterly earnings call.

More Declines Ahead as Salem Posts Q1 Numbers

For the second quarter of 2023, the company is projecting total revenue to decline between 5% and 7% year-over-year. That's the downbeat forecast from Salem Media Group, which swung to a net loss in Q1 2022 and missed analysts' EPS estimates.

Now this former wake-up show member is suing Cumulus Media, saying it violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and Title 7 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Veteran Radio Executive Mike Fowler Loses ALS Battle

He most recently served as VP of Sales for four radio stations in Atlanta owned by the company today known as Audacy Corp., and his career in radio management stretches back to the 1980s. His last job was in 2020, as this industry veteran for the last several months had been battling ALS. Over the weekend, Mike Fowler lost his battle against what many know as "Lou Gehrig's Disease."

Hispanic Media Pioneer Eduardo Caballero Dies

Eduardo Caballero enjoyed a long and prosperous career in both U.S. Hispanic radio and television, thanks to roles as EVP/Director of Sales of Spanish International Network, the predecessor to Univision, and for his many years starting in 1973 as the owner of Caballero Spanish Media. Now, the U.S. Hispanic media and advertising industry is paying tribute to Caballero, who has died.
