‘TRU Calling For A Eastern Kansas FM

Some 100 miles to the southwest of Kansas City is a small town with an FM transmitter for what had been the home of a "true" Christian AC non-comm. The station is now an internet-only operation, as the licensee is selling the presently dark Class A that had been its over-the-air home.

If you are old enough to remember the Barry Levinson-lensed film Rain Man, you know that, in the 1980s, WOXY-FM 97.7 in Mason, Ohio was a Modern Rock station branded as "97X -- the Future of Rock and Roll." It's been nearly 15 years since those days. WOXY is presently airing Spanish-language programming as "La Mega." Its AM sibling in the state capital offers a mix of gospel and Christian-themed shows. The owner of the AM-FM combo has now decided to sell the stations.

Now, it is acquiring one of the three translators it uses outright.

A Fiery Deal For A Georgia AM Implodes

A 1kw Class C in the Peachtree State presently serving African American listeners was "acquired" by its current licensee in June 2016. That would be Norma Jean Lewis, who had previously consummated a deal in 2013 for an AM and an FM in Alabama that never closed. Now, Lewis is losing this Georgia AM, as it's going back to a seller who has had hard luck finding a solid buyer.
