Broadcast Media and Washington: What’s The Forecast?

0

It has been a pivotal year for legal and regulatory changes: The FCC welcomed at long last its fifth Commissioner. A contentious Presidential election looms. A divided Congress debates several broadcasting-related proposals, including cannabis advertising, mandatory AM radio availability in U.S. vehicles, and multiple station ownership rules.

Broadcast groups and their local-level station leadership are both on full alert as they await uncertain outcomes from Capitol Hill and the Commission. A panel at Forecast 2024 on November 15 at the Harvard Club in the City of New York will examine what’s at stake for Radio and TV, and what the key concerns are for the industry with respect to regulatory and law-making changes.

The Signals of Change panel is moderated by esteemed Washington, D.C. communications attorney Frank Montero of Fletcher, Heald & Hildreth. On the panel: those who know best what’s at stake — radio and television leaders.

Rob Babin — EVP and head of radio for Cox Media Group
Curtis LeGeyt — President/CEO of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB)
Peter Markham — CEO of Estrella Media

They’ll dive deep into questions like:

·     How does a group or station plan, and pivot, during times of rapid change such as what we are now experiencing?
·     What kind of opportunities, and challenges, does this current political environment create for broadcasters?
·     How will these changes impact a group’s bottom line?
