Bongino Ready To Bounce from Cumulus?

In October 2021, when mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policies were put into effect at many companies, Dan Bongino — a New York Police Department officer from 1995-1999 and a Secret Service agent for the following 12 years — said no.

Yes, Bongino was vaccinated. But, he had deep reservations about his employer’s forced vaccination policy, and was very vocal about it. In fact, there was much industry chatter that he would exit Cumulus Media as a result of their vaccination enforcement.

It turns out all of that chatter fizzled. But, it has now surfaced that Bongino isn’t planning to stick around Cumulus much longer.

Bongino won’t be signing a new contract with Cumulus once its current term ends.

As first reported by Streamline Publishing’s Radio Ink, Bongino made the revelation on Friday’s edition of the Westwood One-syndicated program some believed was the heir apparent to The Rush Limbaugh Show.

On that very subject, Bongino told his audience that Cumulus approached him after  Limbaugh died and asked him specifically if he wanted to move into the noon-3pm Eastern slot, one held by Limbaugh’s program. At the time, Bongino said he had no interest in trying to fill the conservative void left by Limbaugh for those three hours.

Affiliates need not panic just yet — Bongino has another 18 months remaining on his contract. But, others who have sought to grab Limbaugh’s former listener may now be chomping at the bit to get them away from Bongino sooner rather than later.

Bongino’s podcast will continue. So will his FOX Television appearances.
