‘Efficient, Collaborative, and Open Media Production Workflows’: An Avid Vow

Massachusetts-headquartered Avid says it is primed to unveil a series of product enhancements across its portfolio at the upcoming IBC2024 event that are designed to change how media creators produce premium content for television, film, and news.

“We’re seeing intensified pressures on creative storytelling,” states Tim Claman, Chief Product Officer at Avid. “The rise of content demand, globalized workforces, and deep budget constraints are forcing organizations to produce more content with fewer resources. Avid is dedicated to helping our customers solve these issues. At IBC2024, we will be showcasing innovations that streamline production workflows, elevate quality, and keep costs down – for everyone from creatives to enterprises.”

Demonstrations on the Avid stand will include the latest release of Avid | Stream IO, Avid’s next-generation ingest and playout video server software solution, enabling fast turnaround workflows for news and sports. Avid | Stream IO will support customers’ ability to choose between existing infrastructure offered by SMPTE 2110 standards.

Avid will also demonstrate three unique applications of speech-to-text powered by Avid Ada — Avid’s framework for harnessing powerful AI technology — enabling artists and businesses to boost creativity and accelerate delivery by “automating the mundane.”

PhraseFind from Avid includes a new Transcript Tool, which accelerates the editing process by displaying automated transcripts of source clips that the editor can cut directly into the timeline.

Also getting a spotlight is Avid’s browser-based toolset MediaCentral | Cloud UX, new AI services designed to allow users to generate transcripts automatically or manually, identify speakers, and take advantage of ultra-fast search capabilities to find in the text what they need quickly.

Additionally, users in a Pro Tools session can now quickly scan any audio file and search speech data via a dedicated transcript window. Speech can be displayed as text directly with the associated clips on the tracks for the straightforward application of edits.

Avid will also be demonstrating further updates to its media workflow platform MediaCentral, including a powerful rules engine to drive automated workflows, enriched newsroom features, and new editing capabilities in MediaCentral | Cloud UX.

Lastly, Avid is expanding ARA workflows with new partner integrations, spotlighting ARA 2 features introduced in Pro Tools 2024.6, including iZotope RX Spectral Editor and Synchro Arts. As part of this initiative, Avid will also offer a tech preview of upcoming integrations with Steinberg SpectraLayers, WaveLab, Acon Digital Acoustica, and more, broadening the range of audio tools that support ARA workflows.
