Four television stations operated by Sinclair Inc. via a shared services agreement with a licensee operated by political commentator and entrepreneur Armstrong Williams are poised to become owned-and-operated properties — the latest in a wave of SSA-to-purchase deals submitted by the Baltimore-headquartered company helmed by Chris Ripley.
Paperwork submitted for FCC regulatory approval indicates Sinclair is agreeing to purchase from Williams-led Howard Stirk Holdings (HSH) the following stations:
- WGWG-TV in Charleston, S.C., affiliated with Weigel Broadcasting’s MeTV Network
- KHSV-TV in Las Vegas, unaffiliated as of this writing
- WGWW-TV in Anniston, Ala., aligned with the Heroes & Icons digital multicast network
- WSES-TV in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the feeder station of WGWW-TV, considered a full-time satellite station
A $3.25 million purchase price has been agreed to, but is adjustable should liabilities or HSH obligations tied to expenses warrant a reduction in value.
The asset purchase agreement also discloses that $3 million in capital expenditure investments has been earmarked by Sinclair Inc., and this includes antenna and transmission equipment upgrades for KHSV-TV.
