Foxy Move: Carr Disses ABC For ‘Meritless’ Court Fight

In the not-so-distant past, a sitting Commissioner — let alone a Chairman — of a federal agency wouldn’t likely go on a nationally distributed media outlet to offer comments in response to a lawsuit filed in protest of its actions. Then again, such a lawsuit wouldn’t have been so likely in the recent past, either.

Under the threat of a hearing designation order from the FCC, based on claims of “invidious” forms of diversity, equity and inclusion policies, The Walt Disney Company on Tuesday sued the Commission over its decision to impose early license renewals on the eight ABC Owned Stations it possesses.

Commissioner Anna M. Gómez, the lone Democrat to cast a vote at the FCC, offered applause in a statement. Chairman Brendan Carr took a different route. He appeared on FOX News Digital to blast Disney’s “meritless case,” and then shared additional commentary by reposting a clip of his appearance on his X social media account.
