Another NHL Franchise Gets Broadcast TV Deal

LOS ANGELES — The National Hockey League team that plays in Orange County and was founded in 1993 under the ownership of The Walt Disney Company has partnered with the parent of the Victory+ OTT platform created for the Dallas Stars and with a Fox Television Stations-owned broadcast property in Southern California — a move that sees 65 of the team’s games head to free-to-air TV.

The Anaheim Ducks, today owned by Broadcom co-founder Henry Samueli, have partnered with A Parent Media Co. Inc. (APMC), owner of Victory+, and Fox-owned KCOP-13, branded as “FOX 11 Plus,” in Los Angeles to provide all regional Ducks games free of charge beginning with the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

“We are so pleased to announce that fans in our entire television market, via stream or traditional television (cable or over-the-air) will see locally broadcast games free of charge,” said Ducks President Aaron Teats. “It is a significant organizational priority to connect Ducks fans with our entire market and for every fan in our region to have the opportunity to watch Ducks games without cost across multiple, accessible platforms.”

The agreement concludes the team’s agreement with Bally Sports and Sinclair-owned subsidiary Diamond Sports Group.

Victory+ is scheduled to launch in September, and will allow access to Ducks games on a geo-targeted basis; the Ducks’ territory stretches from Santa Maria to San Diego, Calif.; out to Imperial County, Calif.; and the entire state of Hawaii.

Steve Carlston, SVP/GM of KCOP and sibling KTTV, commented, “We are proud to be the home of the Anaheim Ducks by offering a free over-the-air option for their fans. Broadcasting the Ducks on FOX 11 Plus is a natural additional to our station’s lineup of robust sports coverage, and we look forward to using this partnership as an opportunity to expand their visibility in our region.”

Fans outside the Ducks’ official TV market can continue to watch Ducks games through NHL Power Play on ESPN+. Nationally broadcast games will be available on ESPN, ABC, and TNT. Games will also be available on SportsNet in Canada.
