And Now, A Station Takeover From Our Sponsor …

When Bonneville International Corp. owned a Top 40 simulcast serving Washington, D.C., at some point in the late 1990s it made headlines by inking a major sponsorship deal with the world’s biggest QSR. The result: the “McDonald’s Morning Show” on WWVZ & WWZZ “Z104.” Overseas, “The Pepsi Chart” aired from 1993-2002 on U.K. commercial Top 40 radio stations. Today, naming rights for studios, traffic reports and other programming elements are commonplace for U.S. radio stations.

Now, Max Media has taken naming rights one step further by rebranding an entire radio station based on a sponsor.
