Ad-supported local TV news-focused streaming service Haystack TV has rolled out a dynamic and interactive news ticker, first launched on the Roku platform, that gives app users a custom crawl of relevant news that can be instantly viewed with one click.
“Newsline” differs from a typical crawl in that it is an interactive overlay. A viewer can hover with their Roku controller over a given story in the crawl, click on it, and then be brought to that story’s video report.
Newsline includes local weather conditions, forecasts and alerts; stock market data for a personalized portfolio; local news headlines; and top stories; international, entertainment, business science and technology news; and foreign exchange rates against the U.S. Dollar.
Haystack TV expects to bring Newsline to its other supported smart TV and streaming platforms in the near future.
