The President of Editorial and Newsgathering at CBS News and Stations is taking a moment to praise her team for their part in strengthening its weather network while concurrently expanding the company’s use of AR and VR technology for its climate-focused news and information coverage.

Adrienne Roark shared on Tuesday in an internal memo shared with RBR+TVBR that the addition of rotating meteorologists Kate Bilo (CBS Philadelphia/KYW)Jessica Burch (CBS Bay Area/KPIX) and veteran national meteorologist Rob Marciano to CBS MORNINGS has come.

Additionally, CBS MORNINGS is getting AR/VR-fueled weather presentations, and is part of an effort to “reinforce CBS News and Stations’ commitment to redefining weather coverage with state-of-the-art storytelling and meteorologists from across the country,” Roark says. “This milestone marks a bold step forward in how CBS News and Stations deliver weather coverage across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.”

Meanwhile, “Other significant milestones in strengthening the weather strategy” for CBS News & Stations include the contributions of Lonnie Quinn, Andrew Kozak, John Elliott and CBS Stations’ local meteorologists.

Roark says, “With a focus on real-time data, visually stunning 3D formats, and unparalleled context for weather stories, this new format represents the best of what CBS News and Stations stands for—innovation, collaboration, and the ability to connect with our audiences in meaningful ways.”

As RBR+TVBR previously reported, KPIX-5 in San Francisco pioneered the use of VR and AR in its weather forecasts for CBS News & Stations, with Wendy Fisher using the technology as a beta test ahead of its national rollout under Roark’s purview.
