Troy, Ala., is the home of Troy University. It’s also one of three main municipalities where a daytime-only AM radio station offering Urban Contemporary hits — mainly via its FM translator — can be tuned to.
The facilities have just been sold.
WXKD-AM 920 in Brantley, Ala., and Troy-based FM translator W293DL at 106.3 MHz — known among locals as “Big KD,” has been sold by Brantley Broadcast Associates.
As such, it is now formally set to become a sister property to WZKD-AM & W231DF at 94.1 MHz in Montgomery, Ala., which also have Urban “Big KD” programming in place.
The transaction sees Autaugaville Radio grabbing the Brantley-Troy package it has been operating via a Time Brokerage Agreement, and it is paying $50,000 for the AM and FM translator to take the properties in house.
Autaugaville is headed by Roscoe Miller, who is based in Greenville, Ala. His other properties are WKXN-FM in Fort Deposit and WKXK-FM in Greenville.

The seller is led by Paul Reynolds. It will retain ownership of WLEE-AM in Winona, Miss., and WWTM-AM in Decatur, Ala.
