For 25 years, she helped select the music for Adult Contemporary radio stations under CBS Radio, Saga Communications and, ultimately, Audacy Inc. Most recently she was associated with Hot AC KYKY “Y98” in St. Louis, where she was in middays until stepping aside in April 2022 to focus on her health.
Sadly, that battle has now concluded for Jennifer Farmer, known to listeners as “Jen Myers,” as her fight against breast cancer has ended.
Myers was 49 years old and is survived by her husband Ryan; her children, Finn and Nora; and her parents and siblings. She is a native of Western New York, and cut her teeth at the former WLCE “Alice 92.9” in Buffalo in 1998. Myers would then hold the Music Director/middays role for KSTZ “Star 102.5” in Des Moines, returning to CBS Radio in 2002 to become a morning co-host and MD for KYKY. A March 2021 move to middays was seen ahead of her ultimate departure for health reasons 13 months later.
At that time, Myers went to her personal Instagram page under her legal name to share her decision to leave Y98. She disclosed that she was diagnosed in 2016 with breast cancer and that in 2018 it metastasized to her lungs, advancing to Stage 4. A new chemo regimen made life difficult circa April 2022, and she acknowledged that it was not a cure for the disease.
Reflecting on her time at KYKY, she said, “I started at Y98 when I was just a baby. 20 years later, I marvel that I have been able to work at one radio station for so long. My job going forward needs to be my health, and spending as much time with these 3 people as I can.”
Myers then explained that from her exit from KYKY ” this very public cancer story is going to be very much private.”
On her own Instagram page, Audacy St. Louis SVP/Market Manager Rebecca Domyan commented, “We lost a beloved member of our radio family and community today. Jen was an absolute warrior, and used her time and energy to help others day in and day out; even if she wasn’t feeling her best. I am so honored that I was able to work with her, as her positive impact on so many was significant. She was continually selfless beyond measure, and was a shining bright light for anyone and everyone she came into contact with.”
The Farmer family will host a public visitation at The Gathering Church located at 2360 McCausland Ave. in St. Louis on Monday, October 28 from 4pm-7pm Central. The memorial service will be private.
In place of flowers, donations can be made in Jen Myers’ memory to Pedal the Cause, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and Pink Ribbon Girls. A GoFundMe has been set up in the family’s name to help offset ongoing expenses for Ryan, Finn, and Nora Farmer. More information can be found here: https://gofund.me/c9a03800
