A Seven Hour Salute To Sid Rosenberg on WABC

He’s been at WABC Radio since 2016, and that led John Catismatidis and the team at Red Apple Media to salute the morning host at the News/Talk AM on a decade of service at the resurgent station with a special seven-hour fete.

Sid Rosenberg took to the airwaves at 6am Eastern Tuesday (1/27), and continued on-air until 1pm with a special broadcast from the station’s “Studio 77” space.

Appearances and messages from President Trump, Lara Trump, Sean Hannity, Bruce Blakeman, Bill O’Reilly, and Charles McCord were given, as John and Margo Catsimatidis shared an emotional on-air moment professing their unwavering commitment to WABC.

“Sid Rosenberg is one of the most authentic voices in radio today,” said Mr. Catsimatidis. “For the past 10 years, he’s connected with listeners in a way that’s real, passionate, and fearless. WABC is growing, we’re investing in the future, and Sid is a huge part of why this station’s best days are still ahead — not just in New York, but around the world.”

Soon-to-depart New York State Broadcasters Association (NYSBA) President Dave Donovan surprised Rosenberg with a live call-in to the show to announce that he was the recipient of the New York State Broadcasters Service to New York Award. In studio, the honor was presented to Rosenberg Chad Lopez, President of Red Apple Media and WABC Radio. Lopez is also a member of the NYSBA Board of Directors.

“For 10 years, Sid Rosenberg has delivered compelling, fearless, and impactful radio every morning on WABC Radio,” Lopez said. “He’s a defining voice of WABC and a major reason the station continues to grow, influence, and lead.”

Rosenberg commented, “Ten years at WABC has been the honor of my career. This station gave me a microphone, a family, and the freedom to be unapologetically myself every morning. I’m incredibly grateful to John and Margo Catsimatidis, Chad Lopez, and the entire WABC team for believing in me, and to the listeners who’ve been with me through every high and low. This anniversary isn’t about looking back — it’s about how much more we’re going to do together.”

Rosenberg succeeded the legendary Don Imus in the morning slot on WABC radio following Imus’s retirement in March 2018. He’s had his fair share of negative press in the past, with controversy surrounding statements made while a part of Imus in the Morning at WFAN Radio in New York, where he first teamed with Imus in 2001.

From fall 2005 through February 2010, Rosenberg could be heard on South Florida Sports Talk radio stations, returning to New York and WFAN after his time in the Sunshine State and formally taking a role at WABC in 2016 after several years of fill-in work.
