A Sedona Radio Property Trades Hands

There’s no one place quite like Sedona, Ariz., a bustling town to the northwest of greater Phoenix that is a hub for hikers, hot-air balloon enthusiasts and even wine connoisseurs, thanks to a viticultural region near Cottonwood.

It is here than an AM radio station with an FM translator is trading hands.

Tabback Broadcasting Co. is agreeing to sell KAZM-AM 780 and K293DA in Sedona, for $380,000.

The buyer is Cutter Grind Broadcasting, which was able to negotiate a $10,000 discount on the purchase price so it can attend to roof repairs of the station’s home.

A $40,000 escrow deposit is being held by Clifton Gardner, the seller’s broker in this transaction.

Serving as the buyer’s legal counsel is Kathleen Kirby, with assistance from Jessica Rosenthal, at Wiley Law.

KAZM’s signal is 5kw daytime and covers all of Flagstaff, and the Verde Valley. However, KAZM is just 95 watts at night to protect KKOH-AM in Reno. The FM translator at 106.5 MHz covers the city of Sedona.
