At 90.9 MHz in Fort Collins, Colo.,, is a 150-watt FM translator providing the city a mix of classic hits as “K-Rocky.”
It has simulcast programming originating at a Wyoming facility with a CP for a Class A signal serving a largely rural area to the east of Casper.
Now, the translator is being sold to the Rocky Mountain State’s largest NPR-affiliated group.
In a transaction valued at $40,000, translator K215FM is being sold by Vic Michael-led Cedar Cove Broadcasting.
The buyer is Public Broadcasting of Colorado, the formal name for Colorado Public Radio.
There are no brokers involved in this transaction.
What does CPR have in store for the translator?
It will now rebroadcast Class C3 KVOD-FM 88.1, licensed to Loveland, Colo. This is the home of “CPR Classical,” and takes on the call letters of the market’s heritage Classical station formerly at 99.5 MHz (from 1969 until 1996) and from 1995-1999 at 92.5 MHz.
KVOD’s main signal scrapes the Fort Collins metropolitan area.
