Two deals are in the spotlight in TRANSACTIONS TODAY for Friday, July 27. One involves a Class C3 FM northwest of Savannah, Ga., while the other puts us in Macomb, Ill., where an AM and its FM translator are being dealt.

In the first of our pair of transactions, Radio Statesboro Inc. is saying goodbye to WPMX-FM 102.9 in Statesboro, Ga.

The buyer is The Power Foundation, led by Rob McClure.

Radio Statesboro is an entity headed by Neal Ardman and is a licensee tied to NIA Broadcasting. He’s pocketing $150,000 from the sale of WPMX. A $7,500 deposit has been placed with John C. Trent, while the remainder will be paid in cash at closing.

The buyer has no other broadcast interests, making WPMX its first radio station.

VIRDEN’S POSITIVE GOODBYE

Virden Broadcasting Corp.’s Class D daytimer WYEC-AM 1510 in Macomb, Ill., has benefited from the use of FM translator W226CH at 93.1 MHz to broadcast 24/7 as “Positive 93.1” — a non-secular station focused on “faith, family and community.”

Virden is selling the facilities to Hancock County Broadcasting for $75,000. A $15,000 deposit has been made to Virden by the buyer.

Scheper Communications assisted Hancock County on the purchase of WYEC and W226CH.

The buyer is led by Steve Harrell and is based in Carthage, Ill. It is his first broadcast license.
