TORONTO — He’s described as “a high-impact Canadian media leader with over 30 years of experience.” Introducing the new Executive Vice-President of CBC/Radio-Canada, inbound from the company led today by David Ellison.
The role is going to Doug Smith, formerly the Sr. Vice President of Streaming & Content Licensing/Regional Lead at Paramount. In this role, he was instrumental in orchestrating the Canadian launches of Paramount+ and Pluto TV. “Recognized as an inclusive and inspirational leader, he combines rigorous business discipline with a strong ability to navigate teams through periods of industry disruption,” the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., funded by the government, said in a statement.
CBC/Radio-Canada President/CEO Marie-Phillipe Bouchard commented, “Doug has an extensive track record in the media industry and a deep understanding of the Canadian ecosystem and the audiences we serve.
