A New Owner To Come For ‘La Nueva’

As of today, it is a Class B AM radio station owned by Socorro Torres‘ Torres Media Group serving the southern San Joaquin Valley of Central California. It uses a directional antenna system used by an iHeartMedia AM in the market, and airs a Contemporary Spanish-language Christian format.

Pending FCC approval, this longtime AM — a Top 40 powerhouse in the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll — will be sold to a California non-profit Hispanic broadcast ministry.

Torres’ AOTS Holdings Inc., a Nevada corporation, is selling KAFY-AM 1100 in Bakersfield.

The buyer is El Sembrador Ministries.

And, it is paying $450,000 for the AM radio station. A $22,500 deposit has been made to Torres’ group. The remainder is to be paid in full at closing.

Serving as the buyer’s broker in this transaction is Sandi Bergman, of MyMediaBroker.com.

The seller’s broker of record is Dave Garland.

El Sembrador is based in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles and in March 2021 acquired an AM in Houston. That followed the September 2020 acquisition of a Monterey-Salinas station. Bergman was the broker in each of those deals.
