In Canada, the merger of Shaw Communications with Rogers Communications, which closed earlier this week, has been one of North America’s biggest dollar-value deals seen in recent memory.


In Northern Illinois and in Central Iowa, an unrelated company with a similar name is attracting renewed attention for closing on its acquisition of seven radio stations and an FM translator, bringing the broadcast properties to a stable comprised of newspapers and magazines.
