LAS VEGAS — A “member town hall” held during the 2025 NAB Show on Tuesday served as the venue for the unveiling of “broadcasters’ policy priorities” to guide advocacy in the current Congress, delivered directly to the group by the President/CEO of the nation’s key advocacy organization for over-the-air radio and TV.
At the session, Curtis LeGeyt discussed the NAB policy agenda for the 119th Congress while also launching a new NAB microsite designed for broadcasters to use as an information resource.
The microsite includes sections on the Broadcasters Caucus, Policy Priorities, Serving Local Communities, and the “vital role” broadcasters play in their communities, “from reporting on dangerous weather events to covering local sports and news.”
LeGeyt continued, “In the 119th Congress we are fighting for policies that allow local stations to continue this vital work, from calling on the FCC to modernize ownership regulations to keeping AM radio in cars to keep Americans safe.”
The website outlines six key policy priorities:
- Modernizing Antiquated Broadcast Ownership Rules to Let Stations Compete
- Keeping AM Radio in Cars to Ensure Public Safety
- Supporting NEXTGEN TV to Protect our Critical Infrastructure
- Preventing Harmful Changes to Existing Advertising Tax Deductibility
- Opposing a New Performance Tax on Local Radio
- Protecting Broadcasters’ Investment in Local Content
The NAB also used the opportunity to note that the AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act now has a filibuster-proof majority of support in the U.S. Senate and more than 140 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives.
