In the northern half of California’s San Joaquin Valley, pastor Juan Montes has established a Spanish-language broadcast ministry that uses a Class A FM station licensed to Chowchilla, and an FM translator in Hughson, to reach the Modesto and Merced markets, respectively.
Now, Montes’ operation is adding two additional FMs in the region.
In concurrent filings made with the FCC, Centro Christiano Amistad is agreeing to purchase KCFA-FM 106.1 in Arnold, Calif., covering Sonora; and that aforementioned Class A Montes’ non-profit group has been operating via an LMA — KNTO-FM 93.3 in Chowchilla.
The seller of both properties is La Favorita Radio Network, and terms for each of the transactions call for Promissory Notes covering the full amount of each station’s Asset Purchase Agreement.
In the case of KCFA, a $1 million Promissory Note will be enforced, at a rate of $9,000 per month starting June 1 until payment is concluded in 12 years.
For KNTO, a $800,000 Promissory Note has been agreed to by the parties, with a monthly payment of $7,201 to be made starting June 1, for 144 months.
Centro Christiano Amistad already owns KLOC-AM 1390 in Turlock, which is rebroadcast on FM translator K290CN at 105.9 MHz in Hughson.
