For nearly 19 years, he served in various roles at Fox Television Stations properties, most recently as a Senior Vice President and General Manager of WJZY-46 and WMYT-55 in Charlotte. Upon exiting in April 2020, he’s mainly focused his efforts on sales and business consulting.
Now, Michael Lewis is returning to broadcast TV, and it is thanks to Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Lewis has been named Vice President and General Manager of ABC affiliate KTUL-8 in Tulsa.
He reports to Sinclair President of Broadcast and COO Rob Weisbord, who calls Lewis “an accomplished General Manager, successfully driving revenue growth and effectively managing high-performing teams for over 15 years.”
While Lewis’ name is shared with another local broadcast TV executive, KTUL’s new leader has served in the past as VP/GSM of WTTG-5 and WDCA-20 in Washington, D.C. He’s also held a similar role for WBRC-6 in Birmingham, and has been both National Sales Manager and Local Sales Manager for WBBM-2 in Chicago. Early career roles include that of National Sales Manager for WUPA-TV in Atlanta, during its time as a UPN affiliate.
“Leading KTUL and its associated digital assets is a tremendous opportunity, and I look forward to helping further the growth of our market influence and prominence,” Lewis said.
Lewis began his career as an Account Executive for WNYT-13 in Albany.
