The licensee of four TV translator stations in Mendocino County, Calif., has agreed to sign a Consent Decree in order to end an investigation into its tardy submission of license renewal applications with the FCC.
Television Improvement Association, which operates K27EE-D, K31GKD, K21CD-D, and K17CG-D in Ukiah, Calif., was supposed to file the applications by August 1, 2022.
The stations’ licensed were canceled on December 1, 2022, as the applications had not been received by the Commission. That got the licensee’s attention.
On December 21, 2022, the Media Bureau reinstated the licenses and the licensee subsequently filed the renewal applications on December 21 and 22, 2022, respectively — over four months late.
But, given the small operator’s past history of compliance, no forfeiture notice was put into action. And, TIA must adhere to a compliance plan.
