A closer look at the Nexstar/CCA deal

0

DealThere are a lot of moving parts in the deal that at its core is sending 19 stations in 10 markets from Communications Corporation of America to Nexstar. The complications are contained in the fact that there is another selling entity and two additional buying entities.

Here’s a look at where the stations are coming from and where they’re going in the $270M deal.

Before we start, let’s size up the players. One the selling side, there is CCA, headed by Peter Markham. Additionally, there are three JSA/SSA partners all under Anthony Malara: White Knight Broadcasting, Knight Broadcasting and Warwick Communications.

On the buyer’s side is To Nexstar Broadcasting Inc. (Perry Sook), Mission Broadcasting Inc. (Nancie J. Smith, Dennis Thatcher) and Rocky Creek Communications Inc. (Shirley Green).

The overall deal will proceed with the usual full array of JSAs and SSAs with Nexstar in the drivers seat.
