A $1 LPTV Deal Comes To Legendary California Broadcaster

A Tennessee not-for-profit religious corporation has agreed to sell a low-power television station licensed to the largest city in California’s Central Valley to an individual with a rich history in Golden State broadcasting and a desire to operate the mini facility.

The price he’s paying? Precisely four quarters will do the trick.

K13ZL-D in Fresno is being sold by LOAM Media to Robert LaRue.

Indeed, the purchase price is $1.

The deal, however, suggests LOAM Media intends to focus on its Family Radio operation, and not on a broadcast television station.

For LaRue, it is a different situation, as he’s association with KSTN-AM in Stockton, Calif., which uses an FM translator to serve the market as “105.9 The Bull.”

The LaRue family has long been active in broadcasting in California. The late Knox LaRue built KSTN and in 1962 hired legendary Top 40 programmer Bill Drake to take over the station’s music logs.
