ROSENDALE, N.Y. — It is a Class A FM that signed on the air 12 years ago and boasts a HD2 dance-oriented format and a HD3 Adult R&B offering to Mid-Hudson Valley listeners between Saugerties and Wappingers Falls.
Now, the family member that owns and operates Sunrise Broadcasting is assuming full control of the station it has been operating via a Time Brokerage Agreement with another family member.
As such, Sunrise is acquiring WGNY-FM 98.9, licensed to Rosendale, from Hawkeye Communications.
Hawkeye is a licensee owned by Kristina Klebe, and Joerg Klebe is the principal behind Sunrise.
As it is a family transfer of control, a token value of $1 has been placed on the asset purchase agreement signed earlier this month by the Klebes.
WGNY uses a tower near Esopus, a town on the west bank of the Hudson River known for wineries. Once the deal closes, WGNY will be fully incorporated into a group of stations that includes WJGK-FM 103.1 in Newburgh and WGNY-AM 1220 in Newburgh, which has been a simulcast partner of WGNY-FM.
Sunrise also operates FM translators in the Newburgh-Beacon area rebroadcasting HD signals associated with WJGK.
