MRC Yanks PPM Accreditation From Four Markets

In a significant move that could impact media buying decisions in several large markets, the George Ivie-led Media Ratings Council has revoked accreditation for four Nielsen Audio PPM markets while denying accreditation for an additional 18 PPM markets.

The MRC quietly shared its “accreditation decisions” for July through September 2026 in a memorandum issued late Friday. As it granted accreditation to Netflix for “U.S. In-stream Video Impressions (inclusive of QR code) within Desktop, Mobile In-App and Connected TV,” the MRC revoked accreditation for Baltimore, Jacksonville, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Furthermore, “18 unaccredited Nielsen Audio PPM markets” were denied accreditation by the MRC:

  • Austin
  • Boston
  • Dallas
  • Hartford
  • Houston
  • Las Vegas
  • Memphis
  • Nashville
  • New York
  • Norfolk
  • Orlando
  • Providence
  • Raleigh
  • Sacramento
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Washington, DC
  • West Palm Beach

The MRC did not explain its decision in the memorandum, which also notes that previously accredited Nielsen Audio Diary Service offerings comprehensive of continuous, condensed and standard radio market reports (excluding Puerto Rico); custom survey area reports; and the TAPSCAN Web Application are “currently under hiatus effective June 23.”

Also on hiatus from June 23 are County Coverage Service and Continuous and Condensed Radio Market Reports for Bryan-College Station, Tex.; Hudson Valley, N.Y.; Killeen-Temple, Tex.; Odessa-Midland, Tex.; Portsmouth-Dover-Rochester, N.H.; Reno, Nev.; and Trenton, N.J.
