In an environment where some of Canada’s largest radio broadcasting companies are shutting down AM radio stations, one publicly traded station that tried — and was stopped by the CRTC — to simulcast its big spoken word AM on FM is giving its heritage kHz-band brand in Calgary a slap shot.
As such, putting QR Calgary up in Flames may prevent an all-out extinguishment, as was seen with the previous home of audio play-by-play for the NHL franchise in Alberta’s largest market.
