Since August 2020, she’s served as Director of Operations and Programming for Cox Media Group‘s radio stations serving Jacksonville, Fla. Now, she’s been promoted and will take on a similar role at the company’s radio stations serving its home market of Atlanta.
This will see Jules Riley oversee the programming strategy and day-to-day operations for News/Talk WSB-AM & WSBB-FM, Adult Contemporary WSB-FM “B98.5,” Classic Hits WSRV “97.1 The River,” and Adult R&B WALR “Kiss 104.1.”
Riley will also work closely with market leadership and on-air talent to “drive audience growth, enhance content quality, and ensure consistent execution of CMG Atlanta Radio’s vision across all brands and platforms.”
Riley now reports to CMG Atlanta VP/Market Manager David Abel, who says Riley “has achieved exceptional success throughout her career because she understands how to build strong brands, develop people, and lead high-performing teams. Her strategic mindset, operational expertise, and passion for connecting with audiences make her the ideal choice for this important leadership role.”
For nearly six years, Riley has led the programming, promotions and production efforts for long-time Top 40 WAPE-FM, Classic Rock WJGL-FM “The Eagle,” Alternative WXXJ-FM “X 106.5,” News/Talk WOKV-FM, ESPN Radio affiliate WOKV-AM, and Soft Adult Contemporary WEZI-FM “Easy 102.9.” Additionally, Riley maintained oversight of two African American-targeted digital multicast channels heard on FM translators in Jacksonville, branded as “Power 106.1” and “HOT 99.5.”
Earlier in her career, Riley enjoyed two tenures at radio stations in the Gateway City of St. Louis. From May 2005 through November 2008, she served as PD of WARH-FM “106.5 The Arch” and WMVN-FM under Bonneville International ownership. She returned to the market in April 2017 as brand manager for iHeart’s KSD-FM “93.7 The Bull,” a Country station.
In between, she spent two years as OM of The E.W. Scripps Co.‘s former Tulsa cluster, now owned by Griffin Communications, and as a Media Consultant for Joel Folger’s Folger Consulting. Other career stops include a year as PD of WBEN-FM in Philadelphia, then an Adult Hits station owned by Greater Media; and as OM/PD and an air personality for Citadel‘s Scranton-Wilkes Barre radio stations.
The 1994 graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., began her career as a PD and air personality for West Virginia Radio Corp., working with the late Lacy Neff.
