Since the return of President Trump to the White House and the naming of Brendan Carr as Chairman of the FCC, the conservative-leaning Center for American Rights and its leader, Daniel Suhr, have played an outsized role in the Commission’s stated desire to hold broadcasters accountable to its public interest obligations.
Suhr and CAR are single-handedly responsible for investigations into “news distortion” and a review of whether or not long-running ABC roundtable talk show The View is a bona fide news program. CAR has told the Carr Commission it is clearly not news.
