Country Grammar: HMPG, NBC Team For ‘Great American Journey’

To commemorate 250 years of U.S. independence, Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG) is moving ahead with production of an original series that will air weekend mornings on NBC stations, starting August 22, featuring an iconic actor known for his portrayal as “Dr. Frasier Crane.”


Kelsey Grammar’s role as host of The Great American Journey comes thanks to production support from the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It will air during the “The More You Know” educational/informational (E/I) programming block and will also be available to stream on Peacock and NBC.com.

The Great American Journey will travel the country celebrating American history and exploring the people, places and ideas that have shaped our nation. The series will examine how the American story continues to evolve and the role each generation plays in defining what comes next.

Grammer who will also serve as one of the program’s executive producers.

“We are approaching this commemorative television production with a commitment to storytelling, authenticity and perspective,” said HMPG President Frank Biancuzzo. “We’ve assembled an extraordinary team and want every episode to resonate with audiences in a meaningful and lasting way.”
