RAB, in conjunction with the Georgia Association of Broadcasters (GAB), GAB Education Foundation, Illinois Broadcasters Foundation (IBF) and the Kellar Family Foundation founded by broadcaster Art Kellar, announced the successful completion of its 2026 Media Career Academies program series, including the GAB Media Career Academy, IBF Media Career Academy and Kellar Media Career Academy.

The GAB Media Career Academy took place May 11-16 at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. The IBF Media Career Academy was held May 11-15 in Bloomington, Illinois and the Kellar Media Career Academy took place June 8-12 at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.

Together, the academies provided college-age participants with immersive, hands-on experiences designed to showcase the wide range of career opportunities available across broadcast radio, audio and media. Part of the National Radio Talent System (NRTS) — the industry’s premier student training initiative powered by RAB — the Media Career Academies offer students a comprehensive view of today’s evolving media landscape through direct access to broadcasters, media executives and industry professionals.

“The Media Career Academies are designed to help students see the breadth of opportunities that exist across broadcasting and audio,” said Mike Hulvey, president and CEO, RAB. “For many participants, these programs provide their first meaningful exposure to the business and introduce them to career paths they may not have previously considered. Investing in future talent and helping students envision themselves in our industry is critical to ensuring radio continues to thrive.”

“One of the most impactful elements of these academies is the opportunity for students to connect directly with industry professionals and experience firsthand the innovation, creativity and collaboration that define broadcasting today,” said Randy Gravley, president of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and underwriter of the GAB Media Career Academy. “The GAB Media Career Academy plays an important role in helping us cultivate future broadcasters in Georgia.”

“The IBF Audio Media Career Academy is helping Illinois students explore broadcasting and media through a modern, practical and highly engaging lens,” said Dennis Lyle, president and chief executive officer of the Illinois Broadcasters Association and Illinois Broadcasters Foundation, and underwriter of the IBF Media Audio Career Academy. “By bringing together students and industry leaders in collaborative learning environments, we’re helping inspire the next generation.”
