He’s enjoyed more than 50 years in broadcasting and has spent the last 33 years with Broadcast Supply Worldwide (BSW).
Now, he’s announced his retirement as Director of Business Development at the pro audio and broadcast equipment company.
John Lynch joined BSW on October 21, 1992, bringing with him two decades of experience in radio and television across nine stations. Over the next three decades, he became a cornerstone of the organization, BSW says, “known not only for his deep broadcaster voice but also for his authentic connection to broadcasters nationwide.”
While not formally trained as an engineer, Lynch developed a reputation as a trusted advisor to engineers and sportscasters alike. His unique background as an on-air personality—particularly in sports play-by-play—earned him the affectionate title “The Sportscaster at BSW.”
Throughout his tenure, BSW supported Lynch’s continued passion for broadcasting, allowing him to serve as the voice of the Seattle Sea Dogs of the Continental Indoor Soccer League from 1995 to 1997, and later as the voice of the Unlimited Light Hydroplane Racing Association from 2001 to 2011. “His real-world experience behind the mic gave him rare insight into the needs of broadcasters, making him an invaluable resource to clients across the country,” BSW said.
One of Lynch’s most notable contributions to the industry came in 1994, when he provided feedback to a visiting rep from Beyerdynamic. His suggestion—to offer broadcast headsets with factory-installed XLR and ¼” connectors. It was adopted and led to a significant increase in product adoption across the industry.
“John represents the very best of what BSW stands for—experience, a deep understanding of our customers, and most of all, relationships,” said Bryan Seeley, President/CEO of Broadcast Supply Worldwide. “His ability to bridge the gap between technical knowledge and practical application has made him a trusted partner to broadcasters across the country. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions and wish him the very best in his well-earned retirement.”
Lynch plans to spend more time traveling with his wife, visiting friends across the country and exploring a few states still left on his list — with hopes of someday visiting Galway, Ireland, where the Lynch family traces its roots.
Lynch also plans to stay connected to broadcasting. Before joining BSW, John worked in sports broadcasting and served as a play-by-play announcer for football and basketball at Pacific Lutheran University near Tacoma, Washington. In retirement, he looks forward to the possibility of returning to the booth for select sports broadcasts should the opportunity arise.
John Lynch will be attending the 2026 NAB Show, where he looks forward to reconnecting with industry colleagues and customers. Attendees can find him with the BSW team in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Central Hall, Booth C1459.
