The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York has affirmed a July 2023 ruling that requires the nation’s largest owner of broadcast television stations to repay direct broadcast satellite TV services provider DirecTV for fees associated with what is today an unaffiliated TV station branded as “DC News Now.”
In the court’s view, DirecTV was never fully notified that this station’s NBC affiliation was about to end — something that would have impacted carriage fees paid by DirecTV to its owner, Nexstar Media Group.
