An AM with an FM translator serving a picturesque portion of New Hampshire is being sold, paperwork filed with the FCC for its regulatory approval shows. The buyer? It’s a licensee led by President Dirk Nadon.

Winnipesaukee Radio Station LLC is agreeing to sell WASR-AM 1420 in Wolfeboro, N.C., and FM translator companion W246DI at 97.1 MHz to Lakes Media LLC of New Hampshire.

A $75,000 purchase price has been agreed upon, with a $10,000 deposit being held by Wescott Law, P.A.

A tower lease has been negotiated at a rate of $750 per month for an initial five-year term for W246DI, and for $2,000 per month for an initial five-year term for WASR-AM; the facilities use different broadcast towers.

Terms call for Lakes Media to install a new 400-watt low-power AM transmitter at 73 Varney Road in Wolfeboro and for the connection of new electrical service. Additionally, FCC filings tied to the power reduction are the responsibility of Lakes Media.

Furthermore, Lakes is responsible for the cost of any fiber optic cabling installation, for all utilities at the 73 Varney Road location, and for relocating the FM transmitter to two potential tower sites in Ossipee, N.H.

A Local Marketing Agreement will go into effect ahead of closing.

Other deal terms call for six month of free advertising not valued at more than $1,000 per month for Ken’s All Season Maintenance, and to Lino Avellino; Whittier Communication is entitled to up to $1,000 worth of advertising at no cost for a period of up to 24 months.

The seller is led by John Kenney.
