On SWFL’s Marco Island, A Hyperlocal Voice Is Sold

NAPLES, FLA. — To many “snowbirds” and international travelers, Marco Island, Fla., is an idyllic paradise, full of boating and golfing opportunities when not lazying about on placid beaches.

Given its distance from Naples and, further to the north, Fort Myers, the market’s over-the-air broadcast signals don’t necessarily cover all of Marco. Further, content largely focuses on Lee County and the more populated areas of Collier County.

Enter a noncomm, offering a hyper-local live operation Class A FM, which until now has been a Marco-focused voice. What does the future hold? It’s actually quite clear, even as the station has just been sold.
