“Every great game show needs a great soundtrack and host.” This is iHeartRadio‘s explanation for why it has partnered with a popular interactive smartphone game to roll out “a one-of-a-kind word themed trivia game feature.”

Here’s the scoop on how the nation’s No. 1 radio company is brand-building.

In a blog post made Thursday (12/27), iHeart notes that it is teaming up with Words With Friends 2 on Words With Friends LIVE, a one-of-a-kind word themed trivia game feature available to all Words With Friends 2 players.

The new game-within-a-game brings players closer together every night at 9pm Eastern for a chance to win real-world rewards split between winners. Featuring a live host, Words With Friends LIVE challenges players daily on their wordy knowledge with 12 word-themed trivia questions, ranging from easy to difficult.

The feature officially drops in early 2019, but there’s a pre-launch in progress that sees iHeart hosting “Through The Decades,” a period concept trivia challenge featuring word-themed questions from the ’60s through the ’10s. Through Monday (12/31), players can tune-in to Words With Friends LIVE for “big cash rewards up to $100,000.”

Further, “select artist appearances” will be called on to deliver the “iHeartRadio Question of the Day” daily during “Through the Decades.”

With a correct answer comes an entry into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a VIP experience at the 2019 iHeartRadio ALTer Ego, an Alternative Rock concert scheduled for Jan. 19 in Los Angeles.

Downloads of Words With Friends 2 can be done for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play for Android devices.
