Items: A number of conference calls to discuss earnings have been added to the calendar. Among those reporting soon are Scripps, Tribune and Media General. Meanwhile, Meredith announced terms of is next dividend distribution and Comcast/NBCU executed some philanthropy.
* The broadcasting world’s soon-to-be-newest TV-radio group, E.W. Scripps, will announce financial results Wednesday 3/4/15 at 9AM eastern. A television group now, it has a deal to add television and radio properties from Journal Communications. Should be an entertaining call!
* Newly revamped Tribune Media will meet with analysts and shareholders to discuss results on Friday 3/6/15 in what is sure to be an interesting session. The company, weighted heavily to the TV side plus iconic WGN-AM, will open the phone lines at 8:30 AM eastern.
* Also entering the earnings report calendar is Media General, which merged with LIN last year. It will meet with investors and analysts Thursday 2/26/15 at 830AM.
* Meredith is the latest to divide and prosper, offering a quarterly dividend increase to $0.4575 per share, a 6% increase. It will go out 3/13/15 to shareholders of record as of 2/27/15.
*Comcast/NBCU has committed $2M in airtime to be used by Native American advocacy First Nations Development Institute, to be used for airing 30-second spots. It follows the donation of $2M in 2014 and $1.5M in 2013.
