Taking apart the expanded MVPD redefinition

Cable / SatelliteThe FCC is considering whether or not to modify the definition of a multichannel video program distributor to services that do so via the internet. Here’s a look at how the move might impact the video universe, along with NAB’s reaction.

At present, an MVPD must own its own distribution platform. The need for modification arises by the fact that internet distributors some internet distributors do more or less what cable and satellite companies do, the exception being they don’t own  the internet.
