Seventy-five years ago today, the U.S. was attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor, on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
From 12:30 p.m. Eastern to 2:30 p.m. Eastern, a special National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day 75th commemoration ceremony is being held, with live coverage on Hawaii News Now, the newscast aired by NBC affiliate KHNL and CBS affiliate KGMB in Honolulu.
Among those being honored is the father of Ron Rodrigues, senior manager of sales marketing at Pandora Media and former Radio & Records Editor-in-Chief. Rodrigues’ father, in his 90s, is a Pearl Harbor survivor and regularly represents all survivors as a volunteer at the USS Arizona Memorial.
The attack lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes. When it was over, 2,403 Americans were dead, and the Pacific Fleet was in ruins.
